ComiCon

A ComiCon is an event to celebrate your passion for a specific pop culture icon in the sci-fi or fantasy worlds of novels, movies, series, comics, animation, or graphic novels.

If you choose to participate, you will be hosting a display featuring your topic. For example, you might host a display all about Spiderman or Wonder Woman or Sponge Bob. Your topic doesn’t have to be a character. It could be an object like Lightsabers from Star Wars or Magic Wands from the world of Harry Potter.

ComiCon is your chance to show off your attention to detail and deep knowledge that goes beyond that of an average fan. If you have a passion for a franchise or genre like Star Wars or Pokemon or Anime, you will want to feature one aspect of that passion so your display has a clear focus.

Your display can feature commercially produced goods, but try to include as much of your own work as possible to give it a personal touch. Sharing a collection of figurines, comics, or drawings is a great way to add some flair to your display. Dressing up, known as cosplay, is a fun way to show your passion for your topic.

Your ComiCon display must feature the following:

  1. Title
  2. W5H (what, who, when, where, why, and how)
    • This is a list of the facts and details necessary for the audience to have a general understanding of your topic.
  3. Historical Connections to Pop Culture
    • What impact did your topic have on pop culture when it was released or published?
    • How was your topic influenced by other similar topics?
  4. Importance for Fans Today
  5. Other Interesting Facts (optional)
  6. Sources
    • List all sources you used to create your presentation
