Whenever a story is adapted for television or movies there are differences and similarities. The filmmaker must decide what will work best for a viewing audience and has to make casting and set decisions that may conflict with what the reader had imagined when reading the original text.
When you have finished reading the book and the viewing the movie:
Create a graphic organizer to portray the differences between the book and the movie.
Use the organizer to help you answer the following questions:
- I am happy the movie kept these (3) things the same because…
- I wish the movie hadn’t changed these (2) things because…
- The movie probably changed these things (from question 2) because…
- I wish the movie had changed these (2) things because…
- The book would have been better if (2 reasons)…
- The movie would have been better if (2 reasons)…
- I prefer the movie/book because (3 reasons)…
